Pair of Rosewood Elbow Chairs by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen for Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik (1960s)
A beautiful pair of Danish rosewood elbow (carver) chairs designed by Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen and produced by Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik, Denmark, in the 1960s. The chairs are manufactured in richly grained rosewood with elegantly curved armrests, gently tapered legs and a sculptural back rail, features evident of Larsen’s approach to integrating structure and comfort into furniture. The frames have been sensitively restored, and the seats reupholstered in our workshop in soft black/dark grey leather. Visually and materially, these chairs complement our set of 4 rosewood dining chairs by H.W. Klein (listed separately).

Designer - Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen (1920–1976)
Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen was a Danish furniture designer and architect born in 1920, whose work contributed to the broader scene of mid-century Scandinavian seating design. Larsen’s career included designing for several respected Danish manufacturers, most notably Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik, where he worked on a range of dining and conference chairs in the 1960s that combined refined timber work with careful proportions. His designs are characterised by organic forms and structural clarity, often expressed through the use of premium woods such as rosewood and teak. While comprehensive biographical documentation on Larsen is relatively limited compared to more widely chronicled Danish designers, examples of his work appear in design inventories and auctions, with pieces ranging from dining chairs to armchairs and occasional seating - evidence of his active contribution to the Danish modern movement. He passed away in 1976.
