Detailed information on Naga Necklace, Vintage Blue Seed Beads with Multicolor Accents, 44 Strands, 29 inches Long

  • Vintage Naga Necklace 29 inches long

  • Composed of 44 strands of Indian-made vintage seed beads with colorful accents in center and ends of imported European seed beads including white hearts and striped beads. Newer beads give away the secret that the ends are new than the body of the necklace. Because they get the most stress it\'s not unusual that they need to be replaced. Shell toggle also appears to be new.

  • This necklace came from my basement hoard and most likely I bought it in India in 1983 and it was probably at least 20-30 years old then.

  • The Naga people live in mostly rural areas of northeast India and northwest Myanmar. They are known for their artistry and skill in many media, appreciation of beads, and enthusiasm for festivals during which their elaborate forms ceremonial dress and adornment are displayed.
